R1336mzz(z)

R1336mzz-Z is a non-flammable azeotropic refrigerant gas substitute for HCFC-123 gas in chillers with a centrifugal compressor.

The R1336mzz-Z has a GWP of 7 under AR4, and also offers similar efficiency, although it has a 21% lower volumetric cooling capacity.

Characteristics of R1336mzz-Z

  • R1336mzz-Z is the main component of R-514A, a non-flammable azeotropic substitute for HCFC-123 in centrifugal chillers.
  • The critical temperature, critical density and critical pressure were 403.37 ± 0.03 K, 515.3 ± 5.0 kg m⁻³ and 2766.4 ± 4.5 kPa, respectively.
  • Chillers that work as heat pumps, they offer higher heating temperatures of more than 150 ° C, and greater energy efficiency than traditional fluids.
  • R-1336mzz (Z) has high chemical stability, despite the unsaturated chemical bond in its molecular structure.
  • R1336mzz-Z is characterized by its non-flammability and a favorable toxicity profile.
  • HFO-1336mzz (E) is a non-flammable, low global warming potential (GWP) working fluid that does not deplete the ozone layer.
  • As R1336mzz-Z with a GWP of only 2, it can potentially be used as a working fluid for high temperature heat pump applications, for this temperature range it is also an alternative to HFC-245fa and HCFC-123 refrigerants .
